The rectangular fall-flap enclosing a fitted interior of eight pigeon holes, eight mahogany-lined drawers, and two drawers with tooled- leather book-spines entitled 'POPE'S WORKS VOL I.' and 'POPE'S WORKS VOL II.' around a central hinged door with concave arch, with two secret drawers, above two short drawers and three long graduated drawers, the angles with recessed fluted pilasters, on shaped bracket feet, restorations, the bracket feet partially replaced, with printed paper label to the reverse inscribed 'THOMPSONS & SONS (Removers) Ltd. A closely related bureau was sold anonymously, Sotheby's London, 24 February 1995, lot 76. A further very similar bureau was sold by direction of the Executors of the late Reginald Field Glazebrook and Daisy Isabel Glazebrook, Brynbella, Tremeirchion, St. Asaph, Clwyd, Sotheby's house sale, 1 June 1994, lot 48.
