A retained draft of a letter from Gates, commander at Fort Ticonderoga, recommending a New Jersey surgeon: "...Mr. Barnet...has in his Duty of Surgeon to the First Jersey Battalion, acquitted himself with the Utmost Dilligence & Capacity, and...in many instances, for the Good of the Service, he exerted himself far beyond the precise Line of his Duty."
