A GEORGE III GILT CARTON-PIERRE TWO-LIGHT GIRANDOLE MIRROR
The later lyre-shaped plate with scrolling and foliate frame centered by a grecian urn flanked by scrolling branches with foliate nozzles above a husk-trail boss, the ribbon-tied cresting issuing garlands and above a trophy of the torch crossed with bow and quiver of arrows, one mirrored panel cracked, one bronze leaf broken, restorations and with black staining to the reverse

Lot Essay

The sacred urn in a frame of Roman acanthus and laurels, celebrates Love's Triumph, with its flower-festooned trophy, uniting Cupid's weapons and Hymen's torch.
