Lot Essay

László Medgyes is believed to have been the first designer of Lucite furniture, who with great determination moved from making square powder boxes to creating more complicated round powder boxes, and eventually achieved the correct formula to design a chair and finally other pieces of furniture
The present lot was originally designed for Helena Rubinstein, and bears an engraved "H" within stylized flower vases on both the headboard and the footboard
