The gilt-tooled brown leather-inset rectangular top with rounded corners, above three panelled frieze drawers with scrolled cartouche lock-plates and faux drawers to the reverse, all flanked by berried laurel-draped corners, each panelled side set with a gilt-tooled brown leather-inset writing slide, on tapering fluted legs with beaded collars and cap feet, the laurel swag mounts possibly replaced

Bernard Molitor, maître in 1787.

Only very few bureaux plats stamped by Molitor are known. U. Leben, Molitor, London, 1992, pp. 191-192, lists two of very similar dimensions with similarly fluted tapering legs.
