WIZARD OF OZ, 1939
The Cowardly Lion's original paw-style shoe made of African lion with attached claws and rubber sole on verso as worn by actor Bert Lahr throughout his wondrous journey from his Haunted Forest, to the Emerald City, to the Witch's Castle and most notably from cowardice to courage. Except for The Ruby Slippers, this is the only known footwear worn by the film's fab four to be offered at public sale. A hard shoe to fill as it traveled Hollywood's most exclusive path; the Yellow Brick Road. Mounted in a forest-inspired Lucite presentation that includes a fluttering butterfly and an engraved plaque that reads, "The Cowardly Lion's original paw worn by actor Bert Lahr in "The Wizard of Oz", Metro Goldwyn-Mayer, 1939".
