DIE ERDE zum Gebrauch in Schulen Verlag der J.G. Klinger'schen Kunsthandlung in NÜRNBERG Construirt und in Stahl gestochen van J.A. BÜHLER [c.1845]
A 9-inch (22.9cm.) diameter terrestrial table globe made up of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial and prime meridian graduated in degrees, the latter running through Iceland, the ecliptic graduated in days of the houses of the Zodiac with symbols, the oceans in dark green, Antarctica with some coastline, including Wilkes Land, the continents coloured dark yellow and showing no national boundaries, with rivers, mountains, some towns and cities, India labelled Vorder Indien, Burma, Thailand and others labelled Hinter Indien, China showing the Great Wall (several old repaired cracks and damages, areas of discolouration and abrasion), with plain iron meridian half-circle to turned fruitwood column and circular plinth base -- 13¾in. (35cm.) high
