After the original modelled by George Stubbs, applied in white relief with Phaeton in his chariot pulled through clouds by four galloping horses (slight cracks to relief)
12½in. x 20¾in. (32cm. x 52.5cm.)

Lot Essay

George Stubbs worked on the original model for this plaque in October and November 1780, while lodging with Josiah Wedgwood and his family; it was derived from his own engraving of the subject.
