Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (1900-1944) is best known for his work Le Petit Prince of 1943, an allegorical story of a small boy from another planet who befriends a pilot stranded in the desert. A pilot himself, Saint-Exupéry was declared missing after a wartime reconnaissance flight in 1944.
