A HEIANJO TSUBA AND SIX OTHERS
Edo period (17th/19th century)
An irregular oval-shaped shakudo tsuba, carved and pierced with a water dragon and chrysanthemum blooms and leaves, 7.15cm.; a circular iron Heianjo tsuba inlaid in brass with two crayfish, 8.55cm; an irregularly shaped iron Shonai Shoami tsuba inlaid with three bats, two in copper and one in silver, 7.2cm.; a rounded rectangular copper tsuba in the style of Yasuchika inlaid with a simulated antique coins and signed with a kao, 7cm.; an oval polished shakudo tsuba, Kaga-zogan, with silver and copper inlays of two geese swooping over the sails of three ships, which are pierced through the plate, 6.7cm.; a good shakudo nanako mokko-shaped tanto tsuba, well carved in relief with massed aoi vines, 6.3cm.; and a sentoku ishime hamidashi tsuba, inlaid with a pair of geese alighting amongst sedge, Hamano school, 6.2cm.
