A YOSHIOKA KOZUKA, TWO OTSUKI SCHOOL KOZUKA AND SIX OTHERS
Edo period (19th century)
A kozuka with a silver back plate, gold frame and a shakudo nanako plate, the plate with ears and leaves of rice, the back plate with three cranes, signed on the side of the frame: omote [front], Yoshioka Inaba no suke, ura [back] Yoshioka Hidesaburo; a shibuichi kozuka carved and inlaid with two butterflies over a stand of rice, signed Motte Maruyama Oju Zu Kawahosai; a shibuichi migakiji kozuka inlaid with a hobby-horse, a fish on wheels and a child's drum, with signature Nobuyoshi with a kao; a shibuichi kozuka carved and inlaid with a sennin meditating, with signature Masayoshi at 70 years of age; a good shakudo nanako kozuka inlaid with a clam shell and an eel and another sea-shell; a sentoku kozuka carved in the form of bamboo and inlaid with a shoot and plum blossom, with signature Otsuki Mitsuhiro; a shakudo nanako kozuka carved and inlaid with a hawk on a plum tree below the setting sun, with signature Sakai Yoshitsugu; and an iron kozuka carved and inlaid with a pine tree and mooring posts in the setting sun below a castle wall, with signature Miboku (8)
