Lot Essay

Amongst Dixon's works exhibited at the Royal Academy were: To be left'till called for, (1875, no. 83) and Miles from Home, (1876, no. 522). It is possible that this picture is one of these two.
The noticeboard behind the girl indicates the times of the London and South Western train which departs from Exeter Central, via Exeter St. Davids, to London Waterloo.
