The arched headboard centred by a cartouche with rocaille, above a quarter-veneered panel inlaid with end-cut marquetry, the footboard similarly decorated, between shaped stretchers, on cabriole feet with scrolled sabots
63 in. (160 cm.) wide; 69 in. (173 cm.) high; 82¼ in. (209 cm.) long

Lot Essay

Although not signed, this bed may be attributable to one of the high quality Parisian ébénistes, including such houses as Zwiener, Linke and Jansen (see C. Payne, 19th Century European Furniture, Woodbridge 1985, p. 45).
