Lot Essay

Precariousness and permanent movement are the essence of Lygia Clark's work. In Trepante she uses a flexible trim from a thin aluminum plate. This particular work is allowing it to climb tree bark, and this interacts with its surroundings. In this case the dialogue includes at least three beings: the Trepante, the object in which it is engaged (the tree bark), and the person who is placing it. It is interaction of an instant between the object and the observer that generates movement. At the same time, this movement is the continuation of a previous and the one to follow.
