A Victorian silver-gilt inkwell and stand
maker's mark of Robert Garrard, London, 1868
The circular stand with gadrooned scroll and foliage rim, the border applied with strapwork, foliate scrolls and husks on a matted ground, with raised centre, the spherical inkwell on three scroll and rosette feet and with hinged domed cover with ball finial, the lower part of the body applied with strapwork chased with foliate scrolls, husks and portrait medallions within laurel wreath cartouches, the upper part of the body fitted with six circular pen holders, with clear glass liner, marked on stand, body and cover, the stand stamped R & S . GARRARD PANTON ST LONDON, the inkwell stamped 'GARRARDS PANTON STREET LONDON'
