A Victorian silver-gilt inkwell and stand
maker's mark of Robert Garrard, London, 1857
The circular stand with gadrooned scroll and foliage border and with raised centre engraved with a vacant shell, scroll, foliage, latticework and mask cartouche, the spherical inkwell on three scroll and rosette feet, with hinged domed cover and ball finial, the lower part of the body applied with strapwork chased with scrolls, foliage and portrait medallions within laurel wreath, the upper part of the body fitted with six circular pen holders, with detachable plain silver-gilt liner marked on stand and inkwell, the cover unmarked, the inkwell stamped 'GARRARD PANTON STREET LONDON'
