Lot Essay
Eduard Drouot (1859-1945) was born in Sommevoire, France, in 1859. He studied in Paris under Thomas and Mathurin-Moreau. He won a third class medal at the Salon of 1892 and an honourable mention at the Exposition Universelle of 1900 for his work L'Amateur. Although he was better known as a genre painter he modelled several equestrian bronzes. (J. Mackay, The Dictionary of Western Sculptors in Bronze, Suffolk 1977, p. 111).
