The Kleinschnittger F-125 is perhaps one of the smallest and lightest microcars ever built, weighing only 150kg and measuring only 8'8" long and 3'9" in width. Produced in Arnsberg, Germany, it was available from April 1950 until August 1957.

The two-seater roadster was driven by an ILO 125cc air-cooled engine, the 1954 example producing 6hp. This front wheel driven car was capable of a maximum speed of 70kph, although a more modest cruising speed of 50-55kph was usually quoted. The bodywork was all aluminium and supported by a steel chassis which featured independent rubber band suspension on all four wheels. Fuel consumption of 113mpg was claimed in the advertising literature, which was perhaps just as well as the fuel tank only held 1.5 gallons!

This particular car has been the subject of a complete restoration to a very high standard in the current ownership. This work included the manufacture of new body panels where appropriate, repainting bright red and retrimming in new black vinyl using the original thatch straw filling in the seat squab. A new hood was also fitted and a set of new old-stock 'Continental' tyres located and fitted.

The car was overhauled mechanically and is now presented in excellent condition.

Like the sister Kleinschnittger in the sale, this 1954 example was purchased direct from a German enthusiast who knew the late Paul Kleinschnittger's wife. A lovely car with an excellent provenance.
