Lot Essay

The theatre at Syracuse was built in the 3rd century B.C. and cut out of the rock, it was design to seat 15,000 spectators.

Crane first visited Italy just after his marriage in September 1871 and stayed until May 1873. He revisited Italy in December 1881 and again in September 1882.
