Lot Essay

Together with Prudence, Fortitude and Temperance, Justice is one of the four cardinal virtues. The scales, which date from the Roman era, signify her impartiality, as does her blindfolding. The seven arrows signify the Seven United Provinces and the serpent is a symbol of evil.
