With curved moulded frame and downswept arms terminating in scrolls, the serpentine apron flanked by square patera, on turned reeded tapering legs and feet, lacking caning, the underside branded 'WINDSOR CASTLE VR' flanking a crown and '1868 ROOM ...'
Provenance
Almost certainly supplied to King William IV or Queen Victoria for Windsor Castle, and by descent to
HM King George VI (d.1952), by whom given to the vendor's father, a landscape gardener at Royal Lodge, Windsor, to replace furniture lost when his house was destroyed by bombing in 1940.
