Preliminary color study of the famous comedienne for the final art for TV Guide; perhaps one of the most recognizable of the more than 40 covers Amsel produced for the magazine.

Although Amsel's art has graced the One-Sheets for some of the most popular and recognized movies of the seventies and early eighties, he was equally famous for his stunning portraits of celebrities adorning the cover of TV Guide. At a time when he and other Cinema Artists were struggling for public attribution of their work for the movies, Amsel's name was clearly established on the cover of TV Guide, a magazine that at that time had a circulation of over 13 million. In just thirteen years, he created over 40 memorable covers, more than any other artist in TV Guide's history. Representations of those works were among the recent exhibit at the Museum of Television and Radio, Beverly Hills, commemorating TV Guide's 40th Anniversary.
