THE JUDY GARLAND SHOW, 1963-1964
A microphone used by the entertainer on her variety show television program. Especially created for Ms. Garland, the white enamel painted microphone is designed with the gold lettering judy painted four times in a spiral pattern, accented with gold painted stars. The CBS Judy Garland Show in the 1960s was eagerly anticipated by fans and network executives. However, competition from NBC's number two rated show BONANZA and internal problems were difficult to overcome. The network did all they could to keep the star happy, even painting a yellow brick road in her dressing room. Ms. Garland enlisted many of her show business friends to appear on the program including Barbra Streisand, Ethel Merman, Danny Kaye and Mel Torme. Judy Garland's daughters Liza Minelli and Lorna Luft also appeared on the show.
