offset-lithograph printed in colours, 1957, on wove paper, signed in thick blue crayon, numbered 232/350, published by Guy Spitzer, Paris, with his blindstamp and stamp on the reverse, the stamp numbered '232' in blue ballpoint pen, with margins, a nick at the right sheet edge, a few handling creases and minor rippling, otherwise generally in very good condition

Lot Essay

The unusual signature was the result of a remark by the publisher Guy Spitzer to Picasso, as the edition was being signed. He observed that Picasso's signature was a work of art in itself, whereupon the artist signed a small number (no more than four or five) with this extravagant flourish
