The top-strap mounted with an optional automatic/manual safety-selector, the fences carved with hounds, a hare and a pigeon amid floral scrollwork on a matt ground, the action-body, lockplates and furniture extensively engraved with oak-leaves, the foliate motifs enclosing vignettes of herons, storks and waterfowl, bright finish, highly-figured stock, the Whitworth-steel chopper-lump barrels with game-rib and reversed chokes

The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed in 1893 for General Lignierres. The carved and engraved work is of exceptional quality and exhibits characteristics common to the work of both Barré and Kell
