A Japanese "red-cornered" lacquer box and cover
with fitted inner tray, the sides wrapped in coarse, red cloth covered in red lacquer, the lid and shaped side panels decorated with stylised scrolling foliage, the interior and underside lacquered on a nashiji ground, two ring attachments for chords on gilt-metal, circular-shaped plates -- 9½in. (24.1cm.) diam, Edo Period, (old damages).
