A GERMAN SILVER-GILT CUP
Augsburg, circa 1630, maker's mark probably that of Hieronymus Imhof
On circular spreading foot chased with a band of lobes, the raised centre with fruit and scrolls, the vase-shaped stem cast and chased with masks and with beaded scroll brackets, the tapering bowl repoussé and chased with a broad band of cherubs' masks on matted ground within scroll cartouches, with drapery festoons and fruit between, engraved beneath with initial 'S', marked on base and body, also struck with early-nineteenth-century Austrian control marks and later French control marks
