A Large Caucasian Kindjal, And A Georgian Short Sword
Both late 19th Century
The first with broad double-edged blade cut with two fullers and stamped with a mark on each side, and waisted horn hilt partly covered with silver engraved with foliage and flower-heads, in original leather-covered scabbard with silver locket decorated en suite with the hilt (suspension loop missing), and engraved brass chape (dented, a working replacement); the second with broad double-edged blade cut with two central fullers on each side, and with two gold-lined marks on one side, the shaped wooden hilt of Qama form with iron guard, and mounted in silver-damascened iron (two inlaid plaques missing), in original wooden scabbard en suite
