KONGSGAARD
John and Maggy Kongsgaard launched their winery in 1998, with the release of the now acclaimed Kongsgaard Chardonnay and Syrah. Fruit for Kongsgaard Chardonnay comes primarily from the Kongsgaard Family Vineyard on the northeast edge of the town of Napa, with the addition of fruit from the "E" Block on the Hudson Ranch in Carneros. Production is 900 cases; only five cases of magnums are produced in each vintage. Fruit for the Kongsgaard Syrah is from hand-selected vines in on the Hudson Ranch; a mere 90 cases were produced in the 1998 vintage, scheduled for release in September 2000. Proceeds from the sale of the Kongsgaard lots will be donated to the Napa Valley Shakespeare Festival.
