PRIDE MOUNTAIN
Pride deserves as much credit as any winery for bestowing prestige upon Spring Mountain. The mountain-style red wines fashioned by winemaker Bob Foley have taken critics and collectors by storm since the debut 1991 vintage. Owner Jim Pride and Bob Foley have quilted the undulating volcanic mountaintop soil of Pride's magical site with a variety of Bordeaux-varietal vineyard blocks, taking appropriate advantage of the various exposures and soils. Collectors should note that the magnum vertical of 1993 through 1997 Reserve Claret offered below is the only one in existence. Production of Reserve Claret is limited to 100-200 cases per vintage. The wine is comprised of the finest lots of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with the addition of a hint of Petit Verdot. The jeroboam of 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon is hand-etched and signed by Jim Pride and winemaker Bob Foley.
