Lot Essay

The Powerscourt Cavalry was raised on 31st October 1796, under Captain Charles Stanley Monk, with some thirty troopers. It was re-raised in 1803 under Captain Richard Viscount Powerscourt, with seniority dating from 1799. Its date of disbandment is uncertain.
