This uniform was worn by Brigadier-General Sir Charles Delme-Radcliffe, K.C.M.G., late Connaught Rangers, whose medals are offered in Lot 881 below (see full biographical details with that lot).
This uniform is remarkable as evidence of dress worn by Brigadiers- General from 1902 until the abolition of the rank in 1922. According to Dress Regulations for 1911, they were to be dressed exactly like Staff Colonels (apart from their badges of rank and some minor details). The fitting of General Officer's buttons and shoulder-cords to this coat is therefore of considerable interest.
