Lot Essay

Private Benjamin Chelman enlisted in the 95th Regiment from the East Middlesex Militia in April 1814 and arrived in Flanders with a draft for the 3rd Battalion that December. Present at Waterloo in Captain Eeles' Company, he was afterwards employed in the Army of Occupation in Paris, but in May 1817, following a posting to Ireland, he deserted.
