An Italian walnut boxseat settle, 19th century
the shaped rectangular back profusely carved with scrolls, shells and masks and with a central cartouche depicting a winged lion, surmounted by an arched cresting centred with an armorial, the arm rests modelled as winged griffin like creatures, the hinged seat above a similarly carved front with a projecting gadrooned rail and with scrolling mask feet, some extremities loose -- 57in. (145cm.) wide, 64in. (163cm.) high
