Feather-banded overall, the rounded rectangular, moulded quarter-veneered and crossbanded top above a brushing-slide and four graduated long drawers, the interiors with traces of 18th Century blue paper-lining, on later bracket feet, minor restorations to veneer, the handles original

Lot Essay

Engraved handles such as these are characteristic of early Georgian design. A similar handle with quatrefoil-engraved centre is illustrated in N. Goodison, 'The Victoria and Albert Museum's Collection of Metal-Work Pattern Books', Furniture History Society Journal, Leeds, 1975, p.26 and pl. 3.
