This walnut chest was sold by order of the executors of the late G.L. Clouse at Bruton Knowls, 26 June 1990, lot 500, and was formerly in the collection of Douglas Bruce George of Broadway.

A similar chest-of-drawers with identical metal-work, a veneered brushing-slide and identical feather-banding, is illustrated in the The Somerset House Art Treasures Exhibition Catalogue, November -December 1979, no. 71, described as 'having the original and most unusual brasses'.
