Lot Essay

A related pair of wave-finned tilt staves (9'2" long) was acquired by the Tower of London in 1973 (now at the Royal Armories, Leeds, museum nos. 7V11-1666 and 1666a) which had been sold at Christie's London, 18 July 1973, lot 49.
