A typed inscription on the label describes the subject: 'TAHAITI (sic) TUKINO, A Chieftainess of the NGATITUWHARETOA TRIBE (aged 95 years) lived at TOKAANU, LAKE TAUPO, a descendant of the very noted Chief TE HEU HEU of the great ARAWA TRIBE. The background in (sic) of RAUPO, a reed used for house building. Dress A KOROWAI mat, Neck ornament. A Greenstone HEI TIKI. Ear pendant of Greenstone.'
