Third Quarter 19th Century, signed Raimond the lid inset with brass plaque engraved MH
With overall brass-inlaid and tulipwood stringing, the double hinged rounded rectangular lid and serpentine front and hinged sides opening to a kingwood veneered interior with a two-tiered removable canterbury with etched glasses and four etched glass decanters, over a conforming outstepped base on block feet, the top with central strapwork surround brass inset plaque engraved MH, the interior with the engraved brass maker's label Fab De Canes A Liquers Fg St. Martin 59 Paris/Raimond

Lot Essay

The ebeniste L. Raimond established his workshop first at 59, Faubourg Saint-Martin from 1856 and then moved to 30, Boulevard de Sébastopol in 1866, where he specialized in such small tabletop neccessaries as the current lot.
