A PAIR OF ITALIAN ROCOCO STYLE GILTWOOD CORNER CUPBOARDS
Venice, Circa 1830
Each superstructure with three serpentine graduated shelves and mirror backboards set within a pierced and scrolled rocaille framework, above a conforming cabinet with molded cornice with gadrooned lower edge and a tri partite panelled frieze, each section centered by a shell flanked by scrolled acanthus, the central door decorated with a scrolled rocaille cartouche set with flowers, flanked by tapering pilasters each set with an applied acanthus sheathed scrolled rocaille and floral carving, and a pair of similarly-decorated side doors, the apron centered by an asymmetrical scrolled rocaille cartouche, the side members each centered by a shell, on scrolled rocaille-carved legs each headed by an acanthus, with minute punching to ground overall, with significant insect damage and consequential replacements to carcases, each superstructure with later backboards, each lower section formerly fitted with a shelf one with later top boards, back boards, base boards, each with later rear leg
