A Four-Case Lacquered-Ivory Inro and a Netsuke**
Edo-Meiji Period (late 19th Century)
The inro decorated with two shaped-panels of falcons perched on wood stands, the birds of inlaid ivory with stained details, the stand mokume and the curtain hiramaki-e with paulownia on gold-sprinkled roiro, all on a background of gold lacquer, the surrounding borders gold-lacquered scrolling vines and medallions, the interior decorated in gyobu nashiji; fitted with lacquered-wood ojime carved as two faces and a colored-ivory netsuke modelled as a child playing with a Daruma doll, with signature Hoko
