Edo-Meiji Periods (19th Century)
Comprising a black-lacquer pipecase with soft-metal inlays of chrysanthemums and a brush fence, the cloth pouch with a metal and gilt clasp cast as a monkey leading a bull, with coral bead ojime; a pipecase with red and silver lacquer maple leaves in low relief signed Yoshikazu, the cloth pouch with a silver clasp formed as floating leaves, with coral bead ojime; a cherry-bark pipecase with matching tobacco case and ojime, with metal and bamboo pipe; a carved wood pipecase, the leather tobacco pouch fitted with a gilt-metal clasp cast as a dragon, with coral bead ojime and metal and bamboo pipe; a lacquered woven-rattan pipecase, the leather tobacco pouch fitted with a gilt-copper clasp formed as a tiger; a blue fabric pipecase and matching tobacco pouch with gilt-metal and silver chain attachment, the pouch with a gilt-metal clasp formed as two quail, with a gilt-metal and bamboo pipe; a woven-rattan pipecase decorated with a plow, young pines and flying geese in raised lacquer, the fittings in silver, the signature rubbed and now illegible, the leather pouch with a metal clasp cast as an ayu (smelt) and finished in gilt and shakudo, signed Koshu on the reverse, with coral bead ojime; a lacquered-leather pipecase, the pouch in brocade and leather, with gilt-metal fittings; a black-lacquer pipecase with a togidashi design of a woman carrying a hat, the background nashiji, the pouch in tooled leather; a brocade pipecase with chrysanthemums on an orange ground, with matching tobacco pouch; a brown and blue brocade pipecase with a matching tobacco pouch and a gilt-metal and lacquered-bamboo pipe, in a wood storage box (11)
