A Pair of Fine Wucai Dragon and Phoenix Bowls
Daoguang seal marks in underglaze blue and of the period
Each well painted with iron-red and green dragons racing amidst flower stems in pursuit of flaming pearls and separated by downward-swooping phoenix below a narrow band of conjoined bajixiang and ruyi heads, with an iron-red dragon leaping amidst green flames on the interior

Lot Essay

A pair of bowls of this pattern was included in the exhibition, The Wonder's of the Potter's Palette, Qing Ceramics from the Collection of the Hong Kong Musuem of Art, Hong Kong, 1984, no. 100; and a single example from the Simon Kwan Collection was included in the exhibition, Imperial Porcelain of Late Qing, Chinese University of Hong Kong, 1983, no. 44.
