Tongzhi six-character marks in underglaze blue and of the period
The slightly convex center of each interior decorated in pale lime-green enamel with formalized foliate scroll surrounding a flowerhead, and the well with the bajixiang, each ribbon-tied with a different sprig of flowers, the exterior with three scrolling, flowering tendrils

Lot Essay

A dish of this pattern with four-character Tongzhi mark in iron red, but with a yellow rather than white ground, was included in the O.C.S. exhibition, The Arts of the Ch'ing Dynasty, London, 1964, no. 241.
