Circa 1930
One side stained dark brown, the opposing natural, the kings carved as lions seated on their haunches holding sceptres, the queens as a lioness, the pawns carved as monkeys with individual characteristics
King -- 3½in. (9cm.) high; pawn -- 21/8in. (5.3cm.) high
