Lot Essay

André Thuret (1898-1965) became fascinated early on in his career by the glass of Maurice Marinot and from 1924 joined his friend the sculptor Henri Navarre in making their first attempts at producing glass. At the Paris Exposition the following year Thuret was awarded a Diploma of Honour. Thuret was never solely interested in the aesthetic considerations of his work: the scientific aspects interested him equally.
