AN ENGLISH YELLOW-GROUND CIRCULAR INKSTAND AND CHAMBERSTICK
First half of the 19th century
The drum-shaped stand with a central inkwell and cover and with three quill holes at the front, the loop handle fitted with a taper holder and knib holders, the side painted with a vine of pink roses and smaller purple flowers, 6¾in. wide overall; together with a New Hall waste bowl, circa 1800, painted with pink flowers with a lavender scallop oval, the interior rim with a trailing vine, 6in. diameter; and an English stoneware ewer modeled after 'The Portland Vase', of baluster form, moulded and enriched in lavender with vignettes after the Antique, 7¾ in. high (3)
