Lot Essay

The Huy on the Meuse originally in the collection of Ruskin was given to the Fitzwilliam Museum in 1861; it is here that Ruskin's pupil is likely to have seen it.

Lieutenant General Eden is known to have joined Turner on one of his sketching tours.
