Lot Essay

Based on the Bible verse Luke, chapter XIII, verse 7, and inscribed at the top of the allegorical scene, Hieroglyphicks of the Natural Man shows the fruit born of an un-Godly lifestyle such as "Jealousy," "Unkindness," "Blindness of Heart," and "Envy" among many others, watered by the Devil and blasted by wrath. In direct contrast to this, Hieroglyphicks of a Christian reveals the fruits of faith warmed by grace and nurtured and protected from evil by heaven's angels. These include "Industry," "Gentleness," "Mercy," "Patience," and "Goodness," among others.
