The molded broken swan's-neck pediment terminating in carved rosettes centering and flanked by flame-and-urn finials above an arched glazed door opening to an engraved brass dial with Roman and Arabic chapter rings, a sweep seconds, and calendar aperture and signed John Barnes/Philadelphia, surmounted by an enamelled moon-face dial, enclosed by scrolled spandrels, all flanked by freestanding colonettes over a waisted case fitted with a door with arched crest flanked by fluted quarter-columns above a box base with an applied arched panel flanked by fluted quarter columns, on ogee bracket feet

A Philadelphia tall-case clock signed by Edward Duffield (w.1741-1801) with similar panelled box base from the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation is illustrated in Distin and Bishop, p. 40.
